About Me

Making a Difference

For many years, I always kept my political preferences to myself. I didn’t tell people who I was voting for in upcoming elections because I was afraid I would be judged negatively. However, everything changed during the 2016 presidential election cycle. I supported one of the candidates wholeheartedly. Because I felt this person could make a positive difference in my country, I shared my support of him on social media outlets. I encouraged my family and friends to vote for him. I even wrote blogs outlining my preferred candidate’s strengths. On this blog, I hope you will discover the importance of publicly supporting a political candidate. Enjoy!

Benefits Of Working With A Government Relations Consulting Firm

by Kirk Ramirez

As a business owner in the private sector, you may not think you need to worry about interacting with politicians or keeping up to date with what is going on in politics. However, there are many ways you can benefit if you know who to follow and interact with. But not just anyone can get information on what is going to happen and when or discuss with local politicians your business and community concerns. This is where government relations consultants excel. Here are just a few of the ways you and your business can benefit when you hire one of these professionals to work with you.

New Laws and Regulations

It would be very helpful to know about a law or regulation that is coming into effect before it actually does. Whether it is a new law or a change to an existing regulation, when it is going to affect your business, you want to have as much time as possible to make any changes to things so you will remain in compliance. A consultant will not only know of new laws and any changes as they are coming up, but since they are already working with your company, they will also understand how you can be affected. They can make suggestions as to what you need to do and when different steps need to be completed so you are not fined or shut down.

Funding

Regardless of how well your business is doing, it can always use an influx of cash. When this influx is a grant that will not have to be paid back, it is even better. When you have a government relations consultant working with you, they will be on the lookout for different sources of funding that can be helpful to your company. Once they find any, they can help you apply and push your application through the system. They can even talk with the representatives about creating a grant or other funding that you could use.

Concerns

Every business has concerns about taxes, the community, the environment, and other areas that are at least partially controlled by the government. While you could join a group to write letters, get petitions signed, and make phone calls to try to get others involved so the government officials have to take notice, you could also have your consultant get involved. Not only will they be able to find the right people and groups to help with your concerns, but they can also get the information directly to the correct politician. They can even act as an intermediary between you, your business group, and the politician. These professionals know how to speak the language to make elected officials sit up and take notice. They will also understand what it is you want or need and how important it is to you. When there is a give-and-take situation, the consultant will be able to figure out the best options and what to bring to the table to get your concerns addressed.

It can take time and experience to really deal with the government. You have to be able to talk their language and read between the lines of what they are telling you. Even if you do not realize how politics can affect your company, you should sit down to talk with a government relations consulting firm to make sure you are not missing out on important information. You may just find that your company and community can get a lot more done and resolve more issues through lobbying if you have the right person helping and guiding you along the way.
